Twilight Saga

Twilight Saga

Just finished Breaking Dawn. Loved it! Baby bit was kinda creepy but I really loved the ending. I'm such a sucker for love. It was great!

The whole series was just ... entertaining. Love triangles, secrets, action, fights and fast cars! I'm glad my co-worker/friend gave me the book. I probably won't have read it if she didn't give it to me.

I can't wait until the next two movies are out!!!

New Moon and Eclipse

New Moon and Eclipse -- I'm working on finishing the Saga. Man, I tell you that Jacob. Umm Umm Ummm. Bella is crazy. Obliviously I'm enjoying the teenage angst. It really takes me back. Sometime this weekend I'm going get the next book breaking dawn. I hear it kind of weird.

I think I'm on a Vampire kick. I'm doing Anne Rice next. Then maybe back to "hood books"

I'm back starting new with the Twilight Saga

So I'm back on the train -- after being on maternity leave for the last 3 months.

First book I read was Twilight. I absolutely loved it! I didn't think I would like it but I really did. I enjoyed the challenge in reading something new. I usually read "hood books" because they are easy and they don't take much effort.

What I loved was how descriptive it was. I'm a city girl it is sometimes difficult to picture small town living but I completely understood Bella plight. The author really capture the emotions of the characters. After reading the book I was very excited to see the movie. I enjoyed that as well. It's never easy to recreate a novel on screen but this was a good try.

Just finished

Every Thug Needs A Lady by Wahida Clark and Lust Love and Lies by Eric Fleming

A women Scorned by Erika Williams

Wow! The book has the correct title. Shorty was bugged out! I really looked forward to my train ride in the morning to see what Brielle was going to do next. From beginning to end this book was full of twists and turns. It was decent length too. This book was a lot longer than of the other books I was reading and it was refreshing. I really had a chance to enjoy the book. I didn’t want it to end but when it does it goes out with a bang.

Never Enough by Miasha

I enjoyed this book – I’ve never read anything like it. It was totally out of my comfort zone as far as the main character. Once you get over that you are in for a rollercoaster ride. The book goes from zero to sixty in the turn of a page. Very interesting and creative and I can’t wait to read other book by this author. I don’t want to give away too much but it’s CRAZY!

Baby Brother by 50 Cent and Noire

This was another book that was just a good idea gone wrong. A young man with his whole life ahead of him gets caught in some bull. Baby Brother as he is affectionately called by his less then legal siblings get caught up in some mess. Basically he pays the ultimate price due to the way his brother rips and runs the streets of Brooklyn. The brothers find out and come up with a plan for revenge for Baby Brother. The rest is history. The end of the book was fast pace and interesting. I wish they could change the circumstances of with Baby Brother caught that case. It seems a little off that someone with such a promising future could be so dense.

The Diamond District by 50 and Derrick R. Pledger

This book was OK – not as good as the other G Unit books I read. The plot was a little farfetched. I really hope people aren’t as gullible as they appear to be in this book. The general theme of this book is making money before the summer is over. But really, if you are slated to go to the NFL in the fall and a recent college grad with plans of become a lawyer would you really get involved in illegal BS? I know I wouldn’t. I think the premise was cool but it just didn’t work with the character choices.

It was a quick read and it is entertaining but as soon as the reader really analyses the plot and circumstances of the characters it kind of goes downhill.

Triple Crown Publications Diva by Kane and Abel

I was a little worried about the story line because I’ve read books with similar plots and there is only but so far you can go with it. The book was pretty interesting from the start. It begins with a traumatic incident and builds upon that. I guess they all do that though… right? I liked the twists and turns the authors take. I also enjoyed the peek in the world of music industry.

Even though the book was published about 6 years ago the book didn’t not seem dated – I think that is a important part about writing a book is keeping the content viable after a few years on the shelve. This book did print with a few typos but those are always fun to find in a book. J

This book definitely kept me entertained on my commute to work.

Harlem Heat by 50 Cent and Mark Anthony

This book was a very quick read – Super entertaining! I read this book in a few days. I loved the story line and the language they used. It was very authentic to New York City. I liked the fact that they didn’t explain the slang to the reader. I hate that. I’m sure the reader is aware that they are reading an urban novel and they don’t need an explanation to fairly obvious phases. I kind of wanted the book to be a little longer. Just as I was getting into it is was over. I would love to read a sequel.

I’m going to pick up a few more of these G-unit books. I hope they are as good at the first one.

Subway Reading Frederick Douglass

I'm trying to read and write more this year. Personally, I enjoy reading on the train. I get in the zone and my 45-minute commute flies by. It's the perfect amount of time to get away from all the drama of life and work. I look forward to getting on the train in the morning with my book in hand I can tolerate a crowded train.

The first book I read in 2010 was Frederick Douglass' Autobiography. That was a book that I have been trying to read for years. I must say that I learned a lot from that book. Frederick Douglass was so well written. The particular book I read had various footnotes and added information about the time period and the style of writing. This style of writing is usually difficult for me but it usually is when I read a book from other time periods.

This book gave me a better appreciation of everything!! Life, friendships and family!
